Bose SoundTrue In-Ear Headphones

Bose SoundTrue In-Ear Headphones Review

With BOSE, opinions are divided. Most will say their headphones are slightly pricey, slightly too mainstream, and perhaps too much focused on looks rather than performance, and sadly, it would be hard to disprove these claims. With the SoundTrue range, BOSE is very much sticking to its guns, banking on a design that follows along the lines of nearly every other in-ear buds that brandish the logo, namely Freestyle, Sound Sport and Quiet Comfort. What this review sets out to do is look into what, if anything, SoundTrue brings new to the table, and whether or not it’s true to the brand, or to sound in general, as its name suggests.

BlueAnt Pump - Wireless HD Sportbuds

BlueAnt Pump Wireless HD Sportbuds Review

It’s not often that an underdog rocks the boat for some of the Big Kahunas in the audio equipment industry, and sure enough, as soon as Apple started retailing BlueAnt headphones, it seems the game has shifted. These waterproof, wireless, dustproof and sweatproof headphones are slowly but surely becoming a household name, even for those who don’t necessarily work out too much.

It’s easy to see why, considering BlueAnt has been awarded the V1 Voice Control Stevie Wonder Award for its built-in coaching, the Good Design Award, as well as many other titles and prizes for audio products released before the Pump headphones. This Australian global communications company claims to ‘orchestrate human connection’, with a headset that’s ‘uncompromisingly rugged’. Those are some mighty big words, especially coming from a company that mainstream audio equipment users had hardly even heard about a year ago, so we thought it’s time we put their Sportbuds to the test.

Plantronics BackBeat Fit Bluetooth Headphones

Plantronics BackBeat Fit Bluetooth Headphones Review

Plantronics is an electronics company that has spent more than half a decade producing audio communications equipment for both business and consumers alike. The Plantronics BackBeat Fit is their latest addition to their vast Bluetooth headphone line.

Marketed as perfect for outdoor adventurers, workouts, jogging and hitting the gym in style, they certainly don’t hold back. They are waterproof and sweat-proof, extremely comfortable and tightly fitting so that they don’t fall out of your ears when jogging or working out in the gym. Or, at least, that’s the sales pitch. BackBeat Fit’s are user-friendly, comfortable, light-weight and with an incredible battery life for up to 6 hours of talk time and over 8 hours of music playback. These features make the Plantronics BackBeat Fit headphones perfect for both the enthusiast jogger and professional athletes.Or, again, so they say, but as always, we’re inclined to believe that we’ll be the judge of that.

Sennheiser PMX 686G Sports Earbud Neckband Headset

Sennheiser PMX 686G Sports Earbud Neckband Headset Review

Sennheiser recently rounded off its sports line-up with mid-range earbuds acclaimed for their design, stability and quality of sound, the PMX 686G. Promoted mainly for its design and build merits, the headset is ideal for runners and other sportsmen, particularly in rainier climates, as it boasts waterproof and greaseproof capabilities.

The look and feel of the earbuds gets this review off on the right track, even though Apple fans may be disappointed to hear that they were designed for Android devices, and so compatibility levels for iPods and iPhones are low. With this headset, what you see is what you get: a rigid, one-size neckband that some say can be uncomfortable at times, but the quality of the sound delivered balances out this setback splendidly, by all accounts.

Skullcandy S2IKDY-010 Ink’d 2.0 Earbud Headphones with Mic

Skullcandy S2IKDY-010 Ink’d 2.0 Earbud Review

The Ink’d range is the entry level range on offer from the relatively young company Skullcandy. They self proclaim that this range is one of the best selling earbud ranges in the USA today. Will the budget S2IKDY-010s perform well in our headphone review? Read on…

The Skullcandy S2IKDY-010 Ink’d 2.0 Earbud Headphones with Mic… phew that’s a mouthful! are available in Black/red and in black with blue. They come with a lifetime limited manufacturer’s warranty.

The headphones incorporate some features which Skullcandy proclaim such as “Attacking Bass”, which should offer a more powerful bass, “Natural Vocals”, technology which should ensure that vocals are no longer tinny and “Precision Highs” which should mean the higher range of frequencies are not muddled and more clear.
