Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO, 250 ohms

Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO, 250 ohms Review

Introduction

Inspired by Beyerdynamics’ classic ‘80s models, the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO is a polished, practical, does-what-it-says-on-the-tin kind of headset dedicated to loyal fans. With Tesla technology, these ‘diffuse-field equalized headphones follow in the footsteps of the DT 990 and 770 developed in 1985 for audiophiles and sound engineers alike. This German company was founded long before Sennheiser developed their first headphones, but these two have been going toe-to-toe to conquer the global market ever since.

Beyerdynamic envisioned the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 250 Ohm headphones as a premium studio mixing headset accessible to those who don’t have an urge to splash out, but still want their headphones to be all they can be, in any professional music environment. While the DT990 were fully opened back, perfect for critical listening, and the DT 880 PRO were ideal for reference monitoring and mastering, the DT 770 was aimed specifically to those who are interested in studio and stage performance monitoring. Whether or not the 250 Ohm fits the bill is something we aim to touch on in our review below.

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x Professional Headphones

Audio-Technica ATH-M20x Headphones Review

Introduction

Audio-Technica has long ago justified its claim to a higher standing in the audio equipment industry than most manufacturers could ever hope to achieve. The company is pushing the ATH-M20x and the entire M line as an affordable audio solution, a credit to the company and the flagship of the industry, or more specifically, the studio monitoring equipment industry. The M20x is marketed as a classically designed mixing and tracking choice, which does justice to lower frequencies and catches excellent detail effortlessly. It is these main features that we’ll be addressing in our review, with some allowance for the intriguingly low price of this smallest of all M-line headphones.

Whichever way the scale tilts, it’s good to keep in mind that the M series is a favourite with musicians and music enthusiasts, and the M20x would have to go a long way to taint its reputation.

Shure SE215-K Sound Isolating Headphones

Shure SE215-K Sound Isolating Headphones Review

Introduction

Whether you’re a professional or audiophile headset user, you’ve probably heard of the Shure company before. It’s one of the world’s largest, most revered microphone manufacturers. Nearly a decade of expertise and experience in personal monitor systems, wireless systems, mixers, conferencing equipment, and phono, have propelled the company at a vantage point. It’s here that the company launched its earphone and headphone lines, and that is the reason the Shure SE215-K earphones had better live up to the expectation.

Shure are targeting professionals for their SE215-K, specifically musicians who need to monitor their on-stage performance, but they’re also passing these earphones off as excellent audio solutions for recreational purposes. So, let’s see if the SE215-K is all it’s cut out to be, in terms of both professional monitoring and personal use.

Ausdom M04 Bluetooth Over-ear Headphones

Ausdom M04 Bluetooth Over-ear Headphones Review

Introduction

You may not have heard of Ausdom, or Shenzen Ausdom Cloud Technology Co., just yet, and that could be for a great many reasons, the most obvious of which is the fact that the company specialises in Cloud IP cameras. Over the course of the past few years, the company started dipping its toes into the realm of audio equipment, and has produced a line of power headphones whose sales are picking up momentum.

There are three locally known editions within the headphone line, the M04, the M05, and the M06. This review focuses on the M04, the flagship headphones that are making people reevaluate just what it is that they want out of a headset. Ausdom markets this as a hands-free, deep bass, high sensitivity, stereo wireless headset. We’ll try to nitpick at all of these various features for your reading pleasure, keeping in mind that the company has only just started spreading its wings over mainstream clientele.

BlueAnt Pump - Wireless HD Sportbuds

BlueAnt Pump Wireless HD Sportbuds Review

Introduction

It’s not often that an underdog rocks the boat for some of the Big Kahunas in the audio equipment industry, and sure enough, as soon as Apple started retailing BlueAnt headphones, it seems the game has shifted. These waterproof, wireless, dustproof and sweatproof headphones are slowly but surely becoming a household name, even for those who don’t necessarily work out too much.

It’s easy to see why, considering BlueAnt has been awarded the V1 Voice Control Stevie Wonder Award for its built-in coaching, the Good Design Award, as well as many other titles and prizes for audio products released before the Pump headphones. This Australian global communications company claims to ‘orchestrate human connection’, with a headset that’s ‘uncompromisingly rugged’. Those are some mighty big words, especially coming from a company that mainstream audio equipment users had hardly even heard about a year ago, so we thought it’s time we put their Sportbuds to the test.
